About Pulp
Pulp is one of the most influential bands to emerge from the Britpop era, led by the idiosyncratic and charismatic frontman Jarvis Cocker. Formed in Sheffield in 1978, the band went through multiple transformations before breaking into the mainstream with their 1994 album His ‘n’ Hers and the landmark follow-up Different Class (1995), which featured hits like “Common People” and “Disco 2000.” Their music combined sharp social commentary, irony, kitchen-sink realism, and infectious melodies, making them a distinctive and enduring voice in British music.
Pulp’s success wasn’t instant. They spent over a decade in the underground before striking it big in the mid-90s, becoming a symbol of the working-class voice within a scene dominated by Oasis and Blur. Cocker’s stage presence, lyrical wit, and narrative songwriting made him a cult figure, and his influence extends beyond music into fashion, television, and publishing. The band’s sound blends glam rock, disco, post-punk, and synth-pop — often shifting in tone and mood with each release.
Though they officially disbanded in 2002, Pulp have reunited for select tours, including a major comeback in 2011. Their return in 2023 and continued activity into 2025 marks their most sustained reunion to date. Fans of all ages will be treated to a setlist that spans decades — from the haunting melancholy of “This Is Hardcore” to the anthemic uplift of “Mis-Shapes.” Their live shows are known for theatrical flair, intimate moments, and communal euphoria — qualities that make this concert at Dublin’s 3Arena a must-see.
