About Turnstile

Turnstile is one of the most exciting and genre-defying acts to come out of the American hardcore scene in the last decade. Formed in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010, the band is known for their unrelenting energy, positive ethos, and ability to blur the lines between hardcore punk, alternative rock, funk, and psychedelia. Their unique sound, kinetic live shows, and open-minded artistic direction have earned them a loyal fanbase across the globe — and their 2025 performance at Dublin’s 3Arena is set to be a defining night for Irish fans.

The group’s lineup includes Brendan Yates (vocals), Franz Lyons (bass), Daniel Fang (drums), Pat McCrory (guitar), and Greg Cerwonka (guitar). Turnstile first gained attention with their 2015 debut album Nonstop Feeling, which brought melodic hooks to hardcore foundations. Their follow-up, Time & Space (2018), released via Roadrunner Records, expanded their reach and introduced experimental textures and studio polish.

But it was 2021’s GLOW ON that propelled Turnstile to critical acclaim and mainstream recognition. Blending dreamy choruses, reverb-heavy production, and tight hardcore rhythms, the album was universally praised and featured on multiple “Album of the Year” lists — including Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and The Guardian. Songs like “BLACKOUT,” “MYSTERY,” and “HOLIDAY” became instant classics, drawing in fans well beyond the hardcore community.

Turnstile has toured globally with acts like Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and IDLES, and their reputation for live intensity precedes them. Vocalist Brendan Yates is known for his stage dives, spiritual lyrics, and relentless motion, while the band behind him creates tightly controlled chaos. Whether playing intimate clubs or huge arenas, their shows are celebrations of freedom, community, and movement.

Their ethos goes beyond sound. Turnstile have consistently advocated for inclusivity, personal growth, and creative exploration — pushing back against the toxic elements that can sometimes surface in punk culture. Their shows are safe spaces for catharsis, not aggression.

Turnstile Trivia:

  • The band’s 2021 NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert went viral, earning over 2 million views.
  • Turnstile was nominated for a Grammy in 2023 for Best Rock Song (“BLACKOUT”).
  • They collaborated with Blood Orange (Dev Hynes) on several tracks from GLOW ON.
  • Despite global fame, Turnstile remains a DIY-minded band — handling their own visual design and music videos in-house.
  • Brendan Yates is also a founding member of the art-punk project Angel Du$t.
