The 2 Johnnies are the Tipperary comedy and entertainment duo of Johnny B O’Brien and Johnny “Smacks” McMahon. Their story began with relatable sketches about Irish small-town life and self-released music videos online before developing into a career spanning podcasting, music, television and major live shows. Their official biography describes them as an Irish musical comedy duo and records an impressive catalogue of achievements, including ten Irish number-one singles, live podcast performances across four continents and three television shows produced for RTÉ.
A major milestone arrived in 2018 with the launch of The 2 Johnnies Podcast. The format combines stories, listener correspondence, comedy and conversations about subjects ranging from everyday Irish life to more serious issues. The podcast has also welcomed an extensive range of guests, including Liam Gallagher, Eddie Hearn, Tommy Tiernan and Joanne McNally. Its success has carried over to the live stage, where Johnny B and Johnny Smacks have developed their podcast format into large-scale events while retaining the humour and audience interaction associated with the original show.
The pair have also built a substantial television career with RTÉ. The 2 Johnnies Late Night Lock In combines comedy, celebrity conversations, live music and games, continuing the duo’s focus on Irish characters, stories and humour. In October 2026, RTÉ confirmed that the programme had returned for its fourth season. The pair previously presented Drive It with The 2 Johnnies on RTÉ 2FM, hosting the weekday drivetime programme from 2022 until May 2024.
Their 3Arena show on 19th December 2026 has an additional significance: The 2 Johnnies’ official event listing describes it as a special Christmas Party celebrating ten years of The 2 Johnnies. The duo say the show will bring together the music and entertainment they have developed throughout that decade.
That anniversary makes the Dublin date more than another stop on a live schedule. It marks a decade-long journey from creating comedy and music rooted in everyday Irish experiences to filling major venues, touring internationally and establishing successful podcast, television and music projects. For fans who have followed Johnny B and Johnny Smacks through different stages of that journey, the 3Arena Christmas Party offers an opportunity to celebrate the milestone with them in Dublin.
With comedy, music, podcasting and television all forming part of their story, The 2 Johnnies have developed an entertainment style that reaches well beyond one format. Their 3Arena Christmas Party brings that journey together for a significant anniversary night, and booking a bus to The 2 Johnnies at 3Arena means the transport can be organised in advance while you look forward to the celebration.
