About Lewis Capaldi – Artist Profile & Trivia

Lewis Capaldi is one of the defining voices of modern pop music, known for his heartfelt lyrics, powerful vocals, and distinctive sense of humour that has made him a fan favourite around the world. Born on October 7, 1996, in Glasgow, Scotland, Capaldi’s rise to international fame was meteoric, driven by his soulful sound and relatable storytelling. His breakout hit, “Someone You Loved”, released in 2018, became one of the most streamed songs of all time and earned him a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. The song topped charts across multiple countries and introduced him as a major new talent on the global stage.

Capaldi’s debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent (2019), was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. It became the best-selling album of that year in the UK and spent several weeks at the top of the charts. Tracks like “Grace” and “Bruises” showcased his knack for combining emotion with melody, while his witty, self-deprecating personality made him one of the most relatable stars in contemporary music. His second studio album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent (2023), continued his streak of success, debuting at number one in the UK Albums Chart and reinforcing his position as one of the most compelling singer-songwriters of his generation.

Despite his global fame, Lewis Capaldi remains remarkably authentic. His candid approach to mental health, openness about living with Tourette’s syndrome, and ability to connect with fans through humour and honesty have made him a role model as much as a musician. His personality, often displayed through his viral social media presence, adds another layer to his artistry — genuine, funny, and unapologetically himself. This balance of vulnerability and charisma is part of what makes his live performances so emotionally powerful and unforgettable.

In concert, Capaldi’s shows are as much about laughter as they are about tears. His between-song banter is famous — often filled with jokes and spontaneous moments that make each show unique. When performing live at venues like Thomond Park, audiences can expect a blend of emotional ballads and light-hearted interactions that create a truly memorable atmosphere. Whether he’s delivering the soaring vocals of “Hold Me While You Wait” or leading a crowd singalong of “Wish You the Best”, Lewis Capaldi knows how to command the stage and connect with thousands as if speaking to one person.

Over the years, Capaldi has earned numerous awards, including two BRIT Awards for Best New Artist and Song of the Year, and an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song. His music videos and live performances have amassed hundreds of millions of views, reinforcing his global impact. In addition to his accolades, his self-effacing humour — often poking fun at his own fame — has made him one of the most loved artists of his generation.

Fun trivia: Lewis Capaldi is a distant relative of actor Peter Capaldi, who appeared in the music video for “Someone You Loved.” The video’s emotional storyline and Capaldi’s performance helped the song reach viral status, touching audiences worldwide. His favourite musical influences include Paolo Nutini, Ed Sheeran, and Adele — artists known for their emotional delivery and storytelling. Capaldi’s ability to blend humour with heartbreak has made him stand out as one of the most genuine voices in contemporary pop music.

As he prepares to perform at Thomond Park in Limerick on 26th June 2026, fans can expect an evening that encapsulates everything Lewis Capaldi stands for — honesty, emotion, laughter, and unforgettable music. It’s not just a concert; it’s a shared experience that celebrates the power of live performance and human connection.
